4 ways to profitably grow your email list

Including this “little-known” widget I discovered that’s basically printing money every time someone joins my list.

Here’s 4 methods I’ve been using that allowed me to profitably add over 31,000 subscribers for me and clients these past few months…

1). Sparkloop

Sparkloop is a platform designed to help newsletter creators grow their subscriber base. It simplifies creating referral programs, tracking referrals, and managing rewards. As a white-label solution, it seamlessly integrates with popular email marketing platforms.

Basically, you make money by referring other newsletters.

I’m gonna tell you my experience with Sparkloop below. But if you want a deeper dive on Sparkloop, this is a good article.

One of my favorite tools of Sparkloop is the Upscribe feature.

This feature lets you add a popup widget to your email opt-in forms, refer other newsletters, and then make up to $30 per new subscriber who opts in to your recommendations…

In fact, you might’ve noticed when you joined my email list that there was a little widget that popped up like this:

upscribe

What you might not realize though is if you stay with those newsletters, I make about $2 to $5 for each newsletter you sign up to.

You have to reach engagement criteria.

Many people use SparkLoop to offset the cost of running meta ads—including me.

I’ve made over a grand so far, just on the front end, and with basically zero work at all.

This doesn’t even include people who buy my backend digital products, offers, and services.

I’m getting email subscribers from paid ads for about $0.75 right now.

One of my partners, Email Intelligence pays out $4 per subscriber.

So, I’m essentially liquidating my ad spend on day 1 and getting free email subscribers by using Sparkloop.

There’s multiple recommendation softwares out there like Sparkloop. Beehiiv boosts is another I’ve used.

But Sparkloop is what I’ve been using to offset my ad costs on Day 1, and it’s what I recommend to others who want to profitably build their email list fast.

2) Social Content and CTAs

If you have an audience, this is the easiest way to turn followers into subscribers…

And if you’re just starting out or have no audience…

This method will help you build an engaged email list with social media with ease.

There’s 2 parts:

1. Choose a platform.

If you’re just starting out, I’d start with a text-based platform like LinkedIn or Twitter.

But if video is your strength, YouTube or Instagram are great.

I use Instagram, because I have more presence there than my other social media channels, and it’s how I’ve grown my agency & consulting business.

2. Create one pillar piece of content each week.

This could be a blog post, youtube video, or newsletter.

Post 3-5 high-quality pieces each week by repurposing your “pillar piece” of content. Whether that’s your newsletter, blog, or YouTube video.

Each piece of content should give you at least 3 quality social posts.

The more quality content you add on social media:

  • The more exposure you’ll get.
  • The more chances of going viral you’ll get.
  • The more TRUST you’ll build with people who discover you

First impressions matter…

So a great way to get more conversions from your social media page (eg. someone lands on your page and follows you or clicks a link in your bio or story, etc.) is having more content.

Usually, the more quality content you have the higher your conversion rate will be.

So by repurposing your pillar content, you create an easy growth flywheel.

And that’s only the beginning…

This next method is what ties everything together.

3) Pre and Post-CTAs

A pre-CTA is when you tease your newsletter content about 24 hours before it’s sent.

A post-CTA is when you follow up and share what’s inside after the newsletter goes out.

Here’s an example of a Pre-CTA:

post CTA

This makes promoting your newsletter simple. You tell followers what you’re writing about and encourage them to sign up to read it.

If they’re interested, they’ll join. This also creates:

  • FOMO—fear of missing out on the content
  • Urgency to sign up before it’s too late
  • Curiosity to see what you’re offering inside

Additionally, you can use this method to promote live webinars, lead magnets and so on…

Using these pre and post-CTAs will convert more followers into subscribers.

Plus, it adds 2 additional social posts per week to your arsenal—which gives you even more content to leverage and engage your social media followers with…

And then turn those followers into email subscribers.

4) Your email footer

This one is kinda sneaky.

But you’ve probably seen in my email footer before I write, “Did a friend forward this to you? Sign up here.”

Many people do this in their newsletters as well, “first time reading? Sign up here.”

The point is you want more leverage. To get better results with the same effort.

Adding a little “First time reading? Sign up here” is pretty much an evergreen placement in your email that will lead to more signups.

You set it up once and it works for life.

Recap:

There’s tons of ways to grow your list.

These ways I’ve shared today take little work.

Sparkloop upscribe lets you earn money while growing your list.

Re-purposing social media content is a must do.

Using pre and post CTAs, lets you turn followers into subscribers with content you should already be sharing anyway.

Lastly, including a sign up link in your email footer or header works too because when your emails are good, people will forward them to their friends and colleagues, and you’ll get more subscribers if you have that footer.

Try these today, and start growing your email list with ease.

See ya next week.
